Bear Lake Mini Family Reunion

This past weekend we were in Bear Lake with the Pierson's. Brad & Jill were visiting from Japan so we all got together at the cabin. The only people we were missing were Brett & Melissa and their kids (they live in Colorado). I don't have a ton of pictures because we didn't get our camera out a ton, so I'm waiting to still Angie's pictures! It was also Raspberry Days up in Garden City so it was very crowded! On Friday we went down to the booths that were set up and just looked around. I bought a cute necklace and Clark & I bought matching "friendship" bracelets. Then on Saturday we went to the Lake. Shad and Natalie brought their boat so we were able to wake surf, wake board, and tube!

I tried surfing! This was the only picture where I didn't look mad, but I got a lot closer to the boat, I promise. Except I didn't dare let go of the rope, maybe next time!

However, I was not happy that we decided to do pictures on Sunday morning as we were getting ready to leave. I of course hadn't showered, fixed my hair or fixed my makeup! Oh well.

First Day

Tonight was my first night on the job. We had three kids, twin boys and their little sister. In the first 15 minutes I was injured, yep thats right, one of the boys was sitting right next to me and threw a small plastic airplane towards my face and it hit me on my tooth (weird I know) and somehow it cut my lip during impact. Not way bad but it was bleeding for a few minutes! I will always have the memory of my first day and the little boy who threw a plane at me. I guess it could have been worse. Even with the incident I'm still going to go back for my second day.

The Fray, New Job, and Boating....Oh My

Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do. It has been nice to be busy and having fun. On Saturday July 18th Clark and I went to see The Fray at Usana Amphitheatre. Lorie got discount tickets and was already going to take Katie for her 13th birthday so she asked if I wanted tickets to sit on the grass for $8. So I agreed thinking I know some of their songs, mostly the old ones, and I thought Clark liked them too. Well come to find out Clark doesn't really care for The Fray and wasn't too excited for the concert. But when I told him that it was going to be a big family affair he agreed to come along. I think he secretly enjoyed himself and he knew more songs than I did! Not sure who the first opening band was, but the second band was Jack's Mannequin. Apparently they are a big deal and everyone loves them. I had never really heard of them before. They were good, basically they sound like all the other bands out there. Kinda reminded me of Something Corporate since he played the piano (Sorry if you are a fan, they were good but I'm not saying I LOVE them). It was fun to just sit outside and enjoy the weather and music. Also note to self: Outdoor concerts equal great place to people watch! There were four girls in front of us that would not sit down! A girl behind us even walked down to them and asked them to sit down... they refused saying they paid for a ticket so they were going to stand. My thing is if you are paying for cheap seats to sit on the grass you can't stand the whole time. Plus they looked silly because half the time they just stood... no swaying to the music or clapping. Just standing. There were a few times when most everyone was standing so that is fine. But when you are the only ones standing you look ridiculous. Pay for the seats up close where everyone stands the whole time! There I said it!

You can tell we are all laughing because we turned to take the picture with the stage in the background, so we had half of the hill staring right back at us. It was pretty funny, especially when Brad had to move back a few times to fit all of us in the pic.

The next item of business to blog about is my new job! We are still managing the apartments but I got a part time job working at the Child and Family Support Center. This place is such a great resource to families in need. They offer parenting classes, counseling, step-family classes, nursery etc. Most things are free or a fee is paid of about $20. I'm really excited because this is basically what I am going to school for. To help kids and families! I will be working in the crisis nursery and I just hang out with little kids all day. The nursery is a place where parents can bring their kids if they are going through a crisis and feel like they need a break for a few hours no questions asked. We also get kids who have been abused and they can actually sleep at the center. I start on Tuesday so we will see how it goes.

And finally our boating trip to Newton Dam home to the finest green water in Cache Valley! The water looked pretty nasty but once you were in there, you didn't even notice. We were just excited to be boating! My cousin Paige and her husband Lorin invited us to go boating. Clark has been wanting to go all summer, and luckily Lorin's dad has a nice boat and he asked us to come along! We had so much fun. Seriously Clark can't stop talking about how much fun he had wake surfing! So thank you Paige and Lorin we really appreciated the invite :) The boating trip consisted of Lorin, Paige, their daughter Polly, Molly, Erin (my cousins, Paige's sisters), Lorin's Mom, Dad, and his brother Ross. It was a blast!

Here I am catching some "air". Ha ha it was my first time actually getting off of the water. The wake was pretty big so I didn't have to try hard, it just kind of popped me in the air. Clark took a video but I'm too embarrassed to put it on the blog. I think I look like a goof in it.

I didn't go boating at all last year, and I think only once the year before so it was so nice to be on a boat! I love boating so if any of you with a boat out there want to invite us we would love to go!!

Two Years Ago

So our 2 year Anniversary was yesterday (July 14). We can't believe it has already been two years! I know 2 years isn't a long time seeing as how we will be married for over 50 but right now, 2 years seems like a lot. I mean we aren't newlyweds anymore.... we are basically experts at this marriage thing! We have had a few ups and downs over the years, mostly ups, and it has all been worth it! I can't imagine being married to anyone else.

This is typical Clark, being goofy and me looking at him like he is crazy! He is always up for a good time and gets along with most everyone. If you want to see wedding photos just look on my sidebar. Those are the ones I like anyway, so I didn't want to re-post them!

FLASHBACK

This is one of the first pictures we have together. This was Fall 2004 when we first started hanging out/dating up at Utah State! We obviously knew each other from High School, but didn't really officially meet until the first day of school at USU. We have been together ever since!

We took some pictures for our engagement picture, but then Clark had a fun idea to take our pictures in a photo booth and send those out! So no one really saw these pictures.

For our Anniversary we decided to just go up to Bear Lake to relax and spend some time away from the old people. We left Monday evening and came home Wednesday morning. We rode four wheelers, went down to the beach, watched movies, slept in, and ate yummy food! It was a perfect "getaway" and it was basically free except for the food and since we are poor it was perfect.

Just ignore our lovely sweatshirts! We didn't bring any and this is what was at the cabin Harvard and USU attire! It gets cold in the evenings in Bear Lake with the wind, plus we were on four wheelers so it was windy. You will notice my hair sticking straight up in the air! It was so windy up there this was the only picture where my hair isn't in my face. Thank goodness for timers on cameras, or we would never get pictures of the two of us!

A couple weekends ago Clark & I went to Bear Lake with some of his family. I did a post about it, but I didn't have these pictures when I did it. So I'm just going to add them here, cause I don't want to go back and try to fit them into the original post.

The Fourth

We had a really fun 4th of July weekend in Kaysville! On Friday we went down for the ReAL game. It was our first time being at the new stadium and we had some pretty good seats! We played the San Jose "divers"! Okay that's really not their name, but they were the most annoying team ever! There players were going down left and right and really playing up their "injuries". It was annoying. ReAL didn't play to great themselves and the game ended in a tie 1-1. However it was a fun evening because my cousins Sam & Alex got to walk out on the field with the players so their family was there for the game, along with my cousin Paige and her husband Lorin and their 2 cute kids!

They had fireworks after the game so we had a photo opp while we were waiting. I took pictures of the fireworks, but they are still on my phone so I'll have to add them later.

On Saturday my sister in law Angie and I were going to run the 5K but we didn't sign up in time and we didn't want to pay $30 bucks to run 3 miles. So instead we ran down to Bowmans to pick up a few last minute groceries! Then we got ready and headed over for the Kaysville parade!

Clark, Angie and I decided to walk around the booths they have set up before the parade started. Well when we got back to our chairs, some random family had moved our chairs out of the way and set up camp! We were a little bugged, but it was fine because we just stood back while the kids pushed their way to the front for optimum candy gathering!
The whole gang at the parade! Natalie & Shad's family ran/walked the 5K in Clearfield that morning, then met us over at the parade. Notice their cool shirts they got for the 5K, I was jealous since running down to Bowman's which is less than a mile away doesn't get you a cool shirt!

After the parade we headed back to the house for some food and badminton! The weather had been nice for the parade, overcast and not too hot. But as soon as we went outside for some badminton the sun was out and of course managed to give my face and neck a little too much sun! Clark and Shad were working on their tans, while Nash and I were dying of heat fully clothed!

After playing outside Angie, Carolyn, Grandma Afton, and myself all went to see the movie The Proposal. It was really cute and funny! Carolyn, Angie and I were laughing almost the whole time. I wasn't sure if Grandma Aftie was enjoying the movie... however she did enjoy the popcorn, so all in all it was a good time!

Then after the movie we headed over for the Kaysville fireworks! I think they did a really good job and of course they have music which adds to the overall show. I remember back in the day they didn't play music so it was a little awkward hearing silence or people's oooh's and ahhh's! I love fireworks and we got to see them 2 nights in a row!

I really love the 4th of July. It is one of my favorite holidays! I'm so grateful for all the men and women that sacrifice their lives for our Country. Being in the Pierson family has really made me more patriotic because Blaine, Brad, Brett & Shad have served or are serving in the Air Force!

I especially love when the F16's fly over the parade! Shad is an F16 pilot so it makes it that much more special.

Anyway it was a really fun weekend and I'm sad it is over. But next weekend is my sisters wedding so I have another fun filled weekend coming up!
