the boys in my life

I just got back from LA and it was so much fun spending time with Merrick! My sister Melissa had girls camp and her husband Adam was in San Diego so my mom and I watched him during the day and Melissa came home each night. We were able to get out of the house on Friday to go shopping at the Grove. It is an outdoor shopping area and we got yummy Pinkberry frozen yogurt! It was delicious! Merrick did so good, and basically slept the whole time and woke up as we were leaving, so we made him a bottle and he was fine. Then on Saturday Melissa was home by 2 pm so we went to the beach for a couple hours. It was nice to just lay in the sun and relax.

This was my first time seeing him and he was already so big! He looks just like Melissa!

So I just had to add a picture of Max and Jack! I usually watch them on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, but since I was in California I missed them on Thursday.

While I was in LA Clark mentioned that he was making something for me for an early anniversary present. I assumed it was some sort of furniture item, but I really had no idea since our apartment is too small for anything else, and we have enough furniture. Well when I got home this morning he told me to look in my closet and this is what I saw......SHELVES!

Basically He added the top shelf, baskets and a shoe rack on the side.

He built me shelves in our closet and moved all of his clothes to the other bedroom so all of my clothes and shoes could be in one place!!! I wish I had a before picture because I had no space for anything! We both had our clothes in our bedroom closet but that meant we had to keep "out of season" clothes and church clothes in the other bedroom, and it got a little annoying to have to go back and forth. Plus my shoes were a big mess just thrown in my closet. So I am so so happy for the organization! Now all of his clothes are in one spot too, so that is nice for him even though it is in the other bedroom. He is so good to me! I think he was mostly sick of the mess since he loves to organize and be neat, so I guess it benefits both of us. Thanks Clark for my lovely surprise, it made my day!

Fun Weekend

On Thursday I had a bridal shower for my sister Adrienne. My step mom Lorie and her sisters hosted a family shower and it was so much fun! My cousin Emily who just got off of her mission was able to come up with her mom (my aunt Mary) and two of her cute sisters! I didn't take any pictures, but we had a lot of fun and Adrienne got some good stuff!

Clark & I went up to the cabin on Friday with his family! Natalie and Shad were running in the Wasatch Back Relay so Angie brought Sage with her to our house on Thursday night and we went out to eat at El Toro and went grocery shopping for the weekend. Then on Friday we woke up and drove up to Bear Lake. Clark's mom brought Nash, Jace, and Halle up on Friday and they met us at the beach. We had pretty nice weather on Friday with sun and some clouds, and no rain! We went to Pickleville Playhouse that night to see "Annie get your gun". I hadn't seen that play since I was in elementary and Logan High did it, and I went with my 3rd grade class for a field trip!

Then on Saturday we rented bikes at the KOA. I guess they aren't bikes, but I'm not really sure what you would call them. It was overcast and looked like it might rain, but we decided to ride anyway. Well about 10 minutes into our ride it started pouring! We were all soaked, but it only lasted for about 10 minutes so we just kept riding. We paid for an hour so we wanted our money's worth! I really got a workout pedaling those things!

This picture was taken after we called Blaine to come bring us coats since it was pouring rain... it stopped raining right after he came. Oh well he was able to take a picture for us!

Then on Sunday we went out to my Dad's house to celebrate Father's Day and eat some dinner! It was nice enough weather that we were able to sit outside on their deck. And it only started raining after we ate and we were all inside. This darn rain is driving me nuts! Although I do enjoy not having to water all of the flowers here at Cambridge Court. There are a ton!

Last but not least..... I get to see this little guy in 3 days!!! I'm seriously so excited to go to LA and see my little nephew Merrick. He was born in March and I haven't seen him yet. I also haven't seen my sis since December! I think this is the longest I've gone without seeing her. My mom and I get to go out on Thursday morning and we are staying till Sunday. I cannot wait.

I'm actually leaving tomorrow for Salt Lake. Adrienne has another shower with my Mom's family (I'm super excited for this too, I love my family). Then we are staying down at my mom's house and Wednesday Adrienne has her bridal pictures so we are going to those. Then finally on Thursday I leave for LA. It will be a busy week, but I'm looking forward to it. I will miss my hubby who gets to have the house to himself for 5 days! Hopefully we can survive without me!

Circuit Breakers 101

I'm no electrician but when I go to turn on my lights and I hear a popping noise and nothing works I go check the breaker box. I'm pretty sure I learned what a breaker box was when I was 10, and I new how to flip the switches. So wouldn't you think that a grown man of 70+ years of age would know what this contraption was? You would think, but you are forgetting where this man lives during the summer. So of course he doesn't know what to do when his bedroom lights make a loud noise and turn off and his alarm clock doesn't work either. So I tell him, I'm sure it is just your breaker box and you blew a fuse, he looks puzzled and says I wouldn't even know how to fix that. I said it is that box down in your kitchen, and he says Oh that panel? I say yes flip the switch that is in an off position and your lights and alarm clock should work. Then he asks about his light bulbs that exploded.... I say well you are responsible for your own light bulbs, we don't provide that for you. Well he can't reach them, and I understand that, I don't want them falling just to put in a light bulb. So I tell him Clark can come do it. When I told Clark the story he said I don't think the light bulbs exploded, when you blow a fuse it makes a loud noise, which probably scared the poor guy and he thought they exploded. I have yet to find out if the light bulbs actually did explode!

Maybe I need to go label all of the switches for him and give him a quick lesson on circuit breakers or as he called it "that panel"

There's an App* for that

Clark has had his precious iphone for about two years and I used to make fun of him because he would use his phone for everything! We would be hanging out with friends or family and a question would come up like "I wonder how deep Bear Lake is" or "I wonder who sings this song" and without fail Clark would bust out the iphone and find the answer in a matter of minutes. Well my phone had a little accident about 2 months ago and was never the same again. I would randomly have no service and was unable to send or receive calls and text messages. So when the new iphone 3G came out we decided that I would take Clark's "old phone" and he would get the new one. I was fine with having his hand me down phone since I didn't need all the features of the new phone like being super fast and having more memory and the GPS telling you exactly where you are if you are lost.... Okay maybe I do need that one since I get turned around in the Logan mall! I have a horrible sense of direction, but that is besides the point. Another bonus was his original phone actually broke about 6 months ago because he dropped it a billion times so Apple replaced it with a brand new one! So technically my "old phone" is only about 6 months old. Well I am enjoying my iphone and I feel cool with my new phone! It really can do everything. I was laughing because the commercials say "there's an app for that" and it really is true, there is an app for everything!

Yesterday Clark & I were driving home from Kaysville and I got a message from my sister about Father's Day and I panicked thinking it was this Sunday. So Clark says in all seriousness "Check and see if your phone has an app for that" I said, do you really think there is an app that tells you when Father's Day is, that would be pointless I can just look at a calendar. He actually meant one that just tells you when ALL holidays are, not just Father's Day! What would we do without our iphone... I guess look at a Calendar! Well I figured out when it was, and I didn't need my iphone I just needed to call my sister Adrienne back and she told tell me!

Oh and another cool app Clark has on his phone are the scriptures. He has all the scriptures, manuals for every class, the hymn's, children song book, plus the conference talks. It is way awesome. He says he has it so he can pretend like he has his scriptures out, but really he is playing a soccer game! How horrible is that, he admits he is playing games in church. My husband has a hard time listening in Sacrament meeting! Maybe they should make scripture games so he can play and learn at the same time.

Okay so last funny story about apps. Clark's brother Brad lives in Japan and he likes Apple stuff just as much as Clark. Well he has the ipod touch and one day the little neighbor boy saw Brad and said "Yo Brad what Apps you got" He is this little black boy and when we were over visiting them I remember seeing him around. He even played some basketball with us! When I heard the story I just started laughing. So now Clark and I are always saying "what apps you got!"

Little Red Riding Hood

Last Saturday Clark & I spent the day cheering on his sisters who rode in the little red riding hood women's only bike ride. His sister Natalie is on the left and his sister Kim is on the right. They rode the 64 mile ride that starts in Wellsville and you ride a big loop around parts of Cache Valley. I guess a lot of ladies will dress up in costumes so Kim decided she wanted to dress up! She went as Mother Nature and we put a cute little watering can with flowers on her bike and she put some flowers on her helmet, and then she had a dragonfly on the back. Her bike looked so cute, everyone kept saying how cute it was! They have a contest for the best costume, but she didn't win even though she should have. I didn't really see anyone else decorate their bike like she did.

So Natalie had her gall bladder out just 2 weeks before the ride, so she was crazy to ride in it anyway! So after about 40 miles she wasn't feeling too hot, but decided to keep riding. Well as she started to ride a bee stung her right between her eyes on her forehead!! She was a little disoriented trying to get the bee off her face and she started to go off the road. Luckily she didn't crash but we decided it was a sign that she should stop riding! So Clark decided he was going to ride her bike with Kim for a little bit. So even though it was a women's only race Clark didn't care and he jumped on the bike and rode for about 16 miles. Then by that time Natalie had recovered from her bee sting and was ready to ride the rest of the way. This wasn't really a race, so we didn't feel to bad that Clark rode part of it for her. But I guess a lot of ladies kept yelling at Clark as they rode past him saying "Those are some hairy legs for a girl" or "No boys allowed". He wasn't feeling the love from the ladies! But Kim was glad she had someone to ride with, even if he did have hairy legs!

While we were waiting for his sisters to ride by we took some pictures of the scenery. It was a cloudy day, but it never rained. It was actually a really pretty ride, because everything is still pretty green. It was fun to drive our car and stop at all the pit stops and cheer them on!

Emergency at "The Court"

Sunday morning we were awakened at 8am with the sounds of someone knocking on our front door.  We assume it is one of our "summer citizens" and ignore it.  Since our church doesn't start until 1 we have no reason to wake up before 9am.  Well then we here the phone ring... 3 times in a row.  I'm thinking it might be an emergency, but with the "summer citizens" you never know.  There definition of an "emergency" is very different from mine. We eventually got up and checked the maintenance log outside of our door, but nothing was written on it so we assumed everything was fine, and we go about our Sunday. Then on Monday this particular tenant who had been calling and knocking proceeds to tell Clark that he had stopped by and called and no one answered (he sounded a little upset) so Clark asks what the problem was and this is what the man said...... get ready it is quite the "emergency..... "We had ants outside our front door!"  

THAT WAS WORTH CALLING 3 TIMES AND KNOCKING ON OUR DOOR AT 8 IN THE MORNING ON A SUNDAY!  Oh no the dreaded ants are outside of our house... then go buy some ant spray and kill them.  What happens in Arizona if you have ants, do they call 911?  I mean obviously they take care of themselves 9 months out of the year.  But the 3 months they are here they turn into children!

We need a vacation!

*Oh and I decided I would call them summer citizens because I don't want to offend other senior citizens or "old people" as I used to call them.  Not all senior citizens act like some of the ones we have here.
