Memorial Weekend

One of my really good friends from Junior High/High School got married on Thursday May 21st in the Salt Lake Temple!  Clark was helping his dad up at the cabin fixing stuff and doing yard work so my friend Jennifer and I attended their sealing together.  Jennifer's husband is in Arizona so we were both husband-less for the day.  I'm so glad I was able to be at their sealing, it was awesome!  I'm so happy for them.  Then my friend Janna met us outside the temple and we went to the luncheon and then to the reception together!  It was so fun to spend the day with my wonderful friends, I love them!

My friend Julianne went on a mission two summers ago, right before I got married and I haven't seen her since she has been home.  She was at the reception and it was so fun to see her and reminisce (When I moved to Kaysville, Julie lived in my neighborhood and was in my ward.  We became instant friends the first time we met!)

It was so fun to spend time with all of my wonderful friends.  Even though we don't get to see each other that often we will always be best friends. 

Memorial Day (sorry no pictures)

On Saturday I went to see the movie 17 again with my sisters Adrienne & Katie, and my cousins Sam & McKinley.  It was actually a really cute show, and I enjoyed it.  Even though I'm not a big fan of Zac Effron I thought he did a good job in the movie.  Although a few of the basketball scenes brought back memories of good old High School Musical!  It was fun to hang out with my sisters and cousins, we always have a good time.

On Sunday we went to the Brigham Cemetery where my Grandma's family is buried to put flowers on the grave's.  My great-great grandma Agnes Caldwell was 9 years old when she crossed the plains.  Her mom and another girl who was a little older pushed the handcart the whole way!  They were amazing women and I'm so proud of my pioneer heritage.  It is always nice to visit their graves each year and remember all they did for their families.  

Then on Monday we went to the Logan Cemetery to put flowers on my Grandpa's relatives graves.  I can't remember the last time I went to the Logan cemetery with my Grandparents and I'm really glad I was able to go this year!  My grandpa has relatives who have served in the armed forces and I'm always grateful for those who serve our country, especially family members!

After the cemetery it was back to Grandpa & Grandma Emmett's for some beef curry!  It may sound weird, but our family loves it (well most do, some aren't so sure yet. I like it!).  It is a recipe from my Grandpa's family and we probably have it at least 2 or 3 times a year at different family gatherings.  Then we just spent the day hanging out with family.  That evening a few of us girl cousins decided we wanted to go see a movie at the "dollar" theatre so we went to Hannah Montana.  I do not like Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana that much but the movie was actually pretty cute.  A lot less annoying then her show on Disney!  Still it was fun to hang out with my family.  And Clark was glad he didn't have to go to the movie with us!

Helpful Resources

Now that I have free time, I'm a blogging fool!  I just wanted to post some resources for finding jobs here in Logan.  I know it is hard to find jobs up here, especially for students.  These are just a few places where I occasionally check for job listings.  I know I have a job, but if I find a part time job, or a job with benefits I'll consider them.  I always like to pass on useful information to people so I will try to do stuff like this more often!  I guess the only one that applies just to Logan is the Utah State job board so if you don't live in Logan still check them out if you need a job.  The LDS employment one has a large variety of jobs for people with degrees and without!  Hope this is helpful to someone.

Born to Run

Okay so maybe I wasn't born to run, but there are a lot of people in my family who were born to run.  My dad, mom, sister and many uncles, cousins, sister in laws & brother in laws that run and/or bike for "fun".  They have all inspired me to get active.  It is sad that I cannot walk up Old Main Hill without getting winded and feeling like I might pass out or throw up, whichever comes first!  It is quite depressing.  So with all of you as my witness, I'm determined to run a half marathon!  I'm not saying when but within the year I want to run a half marathon.  My sisters and I have considered the Top of Utah half marathon.  That is in September so I have all summer to train.  I better get out and get my run on!

Here is my awesome dad running the Top of Utah 2008.  This is where he qualified for the Boston Marathon that he ran this April.  He also just did the Ogden marathon on Saturday.  I'm so proud!

Okay he isn't running in this picture, but I thought it was cute!  Skiing is his first love and he is passing on the love to his grandson Max.

Here they are after they did a triathlon up in Bear Lake last year.  Natalie and her husband Shad do triathlons all of the time, they are awesome.  Kim does them a lot too and all three of them just did the Ogden half marathon.  I've got to get my butt in gear!

*I couldn't mention everyone by name but you know who you are if you have ever participated in any sort of race you are inspiring me, so THANKS!  If anyone else out there is interested in 5K's, triathlon relays, or half marathons let me know I may want to participate :)  We will see how my "training" goes.

Busiest 2 weeks of my life

So we have been busy getting the apartments ready for the "Sun Birds" and I haven't had any time to blog, sad I know.  I am ready for a vacation and the oldies haven't even shown up yet!  I have a few things to look forward too and that is what's keeping me going....

* On Thursday my friend Sharli is getting married!  I love when my friends get married because it is basically a High School friend reunion :)  Plus they are getting married and that is always a happy day

*June 25-28 I FINALLY get to see my nephew Merrick!  My mom and I are flying to LA to babysit while Melissa is at Girl's Camp and Adam is in San Diego.  

He is so adorable I can't wait for June!

* Also I am looking forward to the weather staying nice and being able to go camping, swimming and eating fresh corn on the cob & peaches!  Yum

* Also my sister Adrienne is getting married in July!  It is still kinda far away but I'm still looking forward to it :)  Then it will be my 2 year Anniversary!  

So although things look bad right now and the old people will be here before you know it and I won't be able to walk outside without being bombarded there is light at the end of the tunnel!

My cousin Ben got married on Friday to cute Courtney!  They were married in the Logan temple and then had their reception at the Joseph Smith Memorial.  It was so fun to be with my whole extended Emmett family!  I seriously love my family, they are awesome and we always have fun when we get together.

Our Last Day In Japan

So I am finally getting to our last full day that we were in Japan.  This was on Saturday and we left Sunday morning.  We decided to drive up into the mountains and get some yummy ramen noodles.  Now these ramen noodles are not like the cheap 20 cent packages at the grocery store.  It was the same curly noodles but they tasted so much better.  Plus they had pieces of yummy pork on top.  This little restaurant we went to was also the people's house.  They lived in the back part.  The whole menu was in Japanese characters so we just said "we want ramen" and she knew what we wanted!  We had a perfect view of the Tamagawa (gawa is river so it was the Tama River).  It was really pretty up there.

This was a temple on the river.  The little building below had a bell that you could "gong" with a big stick (if that makes sense).  Clark pulled the stick back far and it "gonged" the bell really loud!  I swear it echoed throughout the mountain side! So if you look at this picture bigger you can see the Japanese man getting ready to "gong" the bell.  "Gong" is the only word I can think of that explains what you do.
